Rutledge Cancer Foundation

CareGather is powered by the Rutledge Cancer Foundation (RCF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting cancer patients and their loved ones.

RCF was founded in 2011 by family and friends after 15-year-old Carley Rutledge was diagnosed with Stage IV Ewing sarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer. After 11 months of treatment, Carley was only able to enjoy one year of remission before her cancer returned. Vowing not to endure the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation again, she was able to participate in a cutting-edge vaccine trial that put her in remission for eight years. Tragically, her cancer returned in 2020, taking her young life at 27.

After her relapse, Carley became one of CareGather's earliest users herself — with family and friends spread across many places, it gave them all one place to show up for her, and it made a world of difference. Carley's personal journey and first-hand experience with CareGather, combined with RCF's work supporting thousands of cancer patients, survivors, and families, helps CareGather deliver resources that truly meet the needs of patients and their loved ones.
